Flirty Little Details: Beautiful Bottoms

beautiful bottoms

Lauren (the co-designer of Beautiful Bottoms) has been a friend of mine since we were children, we grew up together and went to the same little school by the sea. Ever since she decided to create her own line of lingerie with Poppy back in 2009, it has been so great to experience firsthand the ongoing success of their lovely brand. Having worn a lot of lingerie, from the first time I tried on Beautiful Bottoms, I could instantly tell it was something different; beautifully handmade and so deliciously soft against the skin. Beautiful Bottoms is one of the only luxury silk brands that is meant to be seen – which I love, such a fresh take on lingerie: their bras are designed to be worn under light clothing with a peek or flash of silk showing. I think there is something undeniably alluring about lingerie that looks like you aren’t trying too hard – its very much my style: a carefree, youthful undone sort of sexy but with a polished luxe edge! The layering trend is very Italian, especially in Positano where I spend a lot of time on the Amalfi Coast.  The women are undeniably chic, their outfits have a light effervescent look that is so effortless but they will almost always have a little something beautiful & slightly flirtatious underneath. And so urging you all to fall in love with Beautiful Bottoms by reading our Q & A with Lauren…

What inspired you (& your prints) for your AW13 collection? – The AW13 collection touches on the seasons key trends including stand out prints such as oriental birds, geometric and winter rose as well as hot seasonal colours such as rich plum, ultra violet and metallic luxe. This collection celebrates luscious loungewear, think delicate pyjamas, bedtime jumpsuits, silk robes and indulgent cover-ups. The ultimate in grown-up luxury. The collection is english country with an eccentric twist!! It has a sophisticated feel to it whilst keeping the Beautiful Bottoms girlish charm!

What is your favourite piece from the AW13 collection? Definitely the Geometric PJS– I love them! And literally live in them at the weekends…colours are amazing…they are also great if your staying at your boyfriends parents as not too sheer haha! You can have breakfast in them and not feel awkward!

How is your lingerie designed to be worn? BB is perfect for boudoir, but also its an everyday brand. I wear mine everyday! The bras are super comfy and wear well so they are great for all occasions. Our colours make BB a great choice for Honeymoon & Holiday Lingerie too..so pretty under a summer dress. And then for Winter they look fabulous under a sheer shirt and jeans.

Who is your Icon/ Muse when designing? We are inspired by travel. We both are very lucky and travel a lot. Our Summer 14 is a beautiful collection – the colours are bright and beautiful! There are bold botanics, abstract aztecs, intricate plumes in a mixture of pop pinks, acid lemons and vivid tangerines. It has a bohemian feel about it and its draws on the wonders of Morocco. This you will have to wait for until January ‘14!!

If you could describe your AW13 collection in 3 words what would it be? ‘ Eccentric English Garden!

Favourite place in the world to design? When the sales are done for the season, Poppy and I sit down and design. We gather ideas through the season and then have a major brainstorm….the theme is decided and then we go crazy! The difficult part is selecting just 3 or 4 prints for the season as we always have so many ideas!
