“Each day is a new opportunity. I chose to make this day a great one.” LOUISE HAY
Daily affirmations are used by so many people every day and they can change your life! An affirmation is simply a positive statement, directed towards yourself, confirming that what you want to happen is happening.
These statements can be spoken out loud, inner thoughts you tell yourself, or written down on a piece of paper. If you repeat a positive statement over and over again, it is more likely to affect your life in a positive manner. For example, if you wake up and think, “I feel happy and beautiful”, you’re more likely to see the positive aspects of your day, no matter how tiny or irrelevant they may usually seem. Thoughts and Desires, can become a reality…
Here are some empowering daily affirmations to look at each morning.

We all know how good it feels to be paid a compliment, that inner glow inside as you are praised for something you did or the way you look but now it has been proven that a compliment can actually increase productivity. Essentially one single compliment can make us more efficient in completing tasks. What is important is that the person receiving the compliment has to believe and recognise it is true and it has come from the heart so it’s not possible to praise someone with an ill thought out compliment simply to increase their output.
“I can live for two months on a good compliment.”-Mark Twain
“Praise is the positive evaluation of another’s products, performance, or attributes, where the evaluator presumes the validity of the standards on which the evaluation is based”
Instead compliments have to come from a genuine desire to make people feel good. And in turn you feel good about giving compliments if they are particularly well received. Afterall it’s nice to be nice, life is too short and if we can spread a little happiness around then so be it. On top of this a genuine compliment means finding the good in people, filtering out the bad, and choosing to focus only on the positive which is good for a healthy mind and body. Furthermore, if you choose to focus on the good and express those feelings it reinforces those positive thoughts in your mind, making you happy that you surround yourself with such good people.
Compliment giving can be spontaneous on the spot ”You look great in that dress” to more thought out and reflective, like the thoughts you might have at 11pm about your best friend “I just wanted to really thank you for always being there for me”. Both are just as powerful, the first for the whole “I just have to tell you I just can’t keep it in” and the second for the reflectiveness and the appreciation of you.
Of course the second stage of complimenting is accepting one and too many of us brush it off with a “oh no I don’t” (in reply to “You look good”) but it’s important to not dismiss the compliment and, instead, take some time to allow it to make you happy and then smile with a ”Thank you”.
Here are five reasons to make compliment giving an everyday part of your life:
“I just think it’s silly to be stingy with compliments. If you see someone and they strike you as beautiful in any way, why not let them know?” JILL SCOTT
